Autologous Blood Injections (ABIs) and Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections are the biological therapies which utilize the healing properties of the patient’s own blood to treat different muscle, tendon and other soft tissue pathologies.
-
Autologous Blood Injection:
Patient’s blood is drawn from one of the veins (usually from the elbow), and immediately injected to the pathological tissue.
Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection:
After the patient’s blood is drawn from one of the veins, it is centrifuged to separate the platelets (clotting cell). The extracted platelets are then injected to the pathological tissue.
Both these procedures are performed by Dr. Khullar under Ultrasound guidance. -
At present, both ABI and PRP are not covered under Medicare rebate. Related information and costs will be discussed with you while making the appointment.
